Action of sulfated polyanions used in blood culture on lysozyme, complement and antibiotics.

چکیده
The modes of action of sulfated polyanions, sodium amylosulfate and sodium polyanethol sulfonate were studied. These agents inhibited the activity of lysozyme and formed insoluble complexes with this enzyme. The polyanions inactivated complement and lessened the effec tiveness of antibiotics against bacteria.

Effect of dietary supplement of Spirulina platensis on immune indices complement and lysozyme of benny fish Mesopotamichthys sharpeyi (Günther, 1874)
Effects of different levels of spirulina dietary supplementation on some immune parameters of Benny Mesopotamichthys sharpeyi fingerlings were investigated in an 8 weeks experimental period. Dried and powdered spirulina algae in five levels of 0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 % was added to the experimental diet .Experimental fish were fed to satiation twice daily. Results indicated that the amount of...
متن کاملThe effects of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius) ethanolic extract on non-specific immune system of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).
In the present study, the effect of the intraperitoneal injection of Carthamus tinctorius extract on non-specific immune system and some serological of Oncorhynchus mykiss has been investigated. To this end, the fish with average weight of 100±10 gr were intraperitoneally injected by different levels of safflower extract. In this regard, a negative control group (no injection), a positive contr...
متن کاملSulfated polyanions do not inhibit duck hepatitis B virus infection.
On the basis of the antiviral action of sulfated polyanions in human immunodeficiency virus and other viral infections, we studied the effect of dextran sulfate and heparin on duck hepatitis B virus infection. These agents do not affect viral uptake and replication in liver cells in vitro or in vivo. Sulfated polyanions, therefore, appear to have no potential for the treatment of hepadnavirus i...
متن کاملThe innate immunity changes of the female anadromous hilsa shad, Tenualosa ilisha , during spawning and post spawning season
Tenualosa ilisha (Hamilton) is a valuable migratory fish belonging to the family Clupeidae and it is distributed in a wide area from the Persian Gulf to coasts of Pakistan and China’s southern sea. The aim of the present study was to investigate the changes occurring in innate immunity parameters during upstream migration and comparing them to those during post spawning. Sixty mature female hil...
متن کاملHeparin and other sulfated polyanions: their interaction with the blood platelet.
Heparin is a heterogeneous mixture of partially sulfated polysaccharide chains. Different subfractions of heparin have been found to interact with platelets to different degrees, which do not parallel the anticoagulant activity of the preparation.] There is some suggestion that the low antithrombin I11 atfinity of a subfraction results in more potent platelet interaction. It is, however, extrem...
